The alarm clock woke me up with its electronic sound. I looked at my clock, it was six thirty in the morning. It was still dark pitched outside. Slowly I dragged myself out of the bed and prepared myself. My classmate, Haziq and I need to attend the extra class in the weekend morning as we were unable to attend the extra class before.
As I prepared myself, I went downstairs and headed to the kitchen. My mother would get angry if I went to school with an empty stomach. On that day, she cooked for me my favourite food which was fried rice with some sausages. Suddenly I heard a sound of bell in my house.
"Azim, Haziq is waiting for you outside," shouted my father.
Then I quickly gobbled the food and sprinted outside. As the door was opened, I could see Haziq smiling at me as I was breathless in that morning. He was very smart, wearing a neat tie, a songkok and a school uniform which is clean and tidy.
"He is a person who always be punctual," my heart whispered.
After that, we rode our motorcycle and headed to the school. Suddenly, I passed through a beautiful, long hair girl, standing at the bus station. I thought I had seen her before. I struggled to remember where I had met her before.
As I kept on thinking about her, I missed my step and could not handle the motorcycle steadily. As a result, I fell off at the road side and my legs were fully covered with blood and many red stones. I groaned at the thought of being angry by my parents for mistakes that I had made.
Later, Haziq stopped his motorcycle, clutching his hands and uncertain what to do next. He could not leave me behind so he went to the nearest house and ask for help. Luckily, there was a kind man came along with Haziq towards me. He was looking at my leg for a long moment, with sadness surrounded his face.
"Where are you guys going to?" asked him.
"We are going to school to attend an extra class," replied Haziq softly.
After that, he brought me and Haziq to the hospital. He told us that he would inform our teacher on what had happened to us. We felt very happy to hear that. At the same time, I was feeling so sorry to Haziq for this careless accident and he could not attend the extra class because of me.
"Don't worry Azim, we can study any time but right now, saving your life is more important to me," explained Haziq calmly.
I felt so grateful and now I realise the value of a true friend.
